The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority is currently undertaking its largest ever project - the construction of a gallery to interpret the landscape and heritage of Pembrokeshire. This is a unique venture for any National Park to undertake, and is the result of shared goals and much hard work.
- Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales has since 1995 been seeking a facility in Pembrokeshire to exhibit treasures of the National Collection centered on the works of Graham Sutherland. It is already involved in many different levels of partnership working at local, national and international levels and is committed to broadening access to the national collections.
- The National Park Authority are keen to interpret the landscape of Pembrokeshire in new and innovative ways. The existing visitor centre in St Davids is an award-winning building, demonstrating the highest standards of sustainable design.
- The Welsh Assembly Government, European Objective 1 Programme and Visit Wales were all prepared to support the National Park Authority and Amgueddfa Cymru in this collaborative initiative.
- A study of the St Davids area concluded that the city and its great cathedral, would be well complemented by another, very different, all year round quality attraction in order to boost the local economy.
