It was party time on Sunday when children at a holiday park in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park joined in celebrations to mark ten years of family fun in the outdoors.
August 10th was the date for the 10th anniversary at Kiln Park, Tenby, to celebrate a partnership between Haven Holidays’ parent company Bourne Leisure with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.
Children staying at the holiday park made 10th birthday cards using natural materials found in the area; made a huge number 10 from seaweed and shells; created masks and made shell paintings.
Seasonal National Park Ranger Jo Loman, who works at Haven’s Kiln Park, Lydstep Holiday Village and Penally Court, said: "Everyone had a great time on Sunday. The activity sessions were really busy and the children told me they had fun and learned a lot about marine and wildlife, which is great."
Jo’s post is co-funded by Bourne Leisure and the National Park Authority. The Ranger’s role, which has developed since the partnership began in 1998, is to encourage holidaymakers at the three parks to explore the stunning landscape of the National Park and discover its wealth of wildlife.
Jo organises family activities, including rockpool rambles, crab catching competitions, seashore activities, bat and badger detective walks, woodland walks and bugs and slugs trails. She also holds craft sessions in the holiday parks’ discovery and education rooms.
The holiday parks hold Gold David Bellamy Conservation Awards, in recognition of their active concern for the environment and in encouraging visitors to understand conservation.
Family Park Ranger Ashley Evans, of Bourne Leisure, said: "We’re proud of our gold award status for conservation and we’re pleased to be celebrating ten years of conservation partnership work with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.
"Kiln Park, Lydstep and Penally Court are in a fantastic location in the National Park and the Family Park Ranger and the National Park Ranger help to provide a link between the National Park and our holidaymakers."
